Fire and Ice Tournament

Welcome to the first Fire and Ice Tournament of Pokemopolis! This tournament will kick off Febuary 1st 2010. The tournament will showcase fire and ice pokemon only! For dual type pokemon they must have fire or ice as one of their types!

The tournament will work as this. Once all participants have signed up, rounds will be in 1-2 week increments. The goal is to earn as many battle points as possible by challenging each other. So if you lose that doesn't mean you're out, just keep battling. Everyone earns 1 battle point for a win regardless of the type of match. You may battle singles or doubles. When a match is decided you must post the results of it on this thread! All battles must be confirmed by both opponents! If its not posted it does not count. The first round will eliminate half the field. Those will the most points after round one will advance. The following rounds will consist of normal tournament brackets.


TEAMS:

Your team must contain half fire and half ice pokemon! Anyone found to have broken this rule will automatically be eliminated. Choose your pokemon wisely!


UU/NU Pokemon only!


RULES:


All matches are standard rules, no ubers, sleep clause, hax item clause, etc.

Round one matches will be 4 pokemon only! 2 Ice pokemon, 2 Fire pokemon!
Round matches after round one will be 6 versus 6 matches. Matches must be
completed by the deadline. No extentions will be given, sorry.

If you ask me....plenty of pokes can beat Heatran, so its not really overpowered (=

Heatran can ohko all ice and fire types with one move?
Seriously, EVERY SINGLE ONE is Ohkoed by either fireblast, epower, Explosion and stone edge (lol)

The only fire types I can think of that can counter Heatran Nicely enough are Moltres and Charizard since they are immune to EP and resist the fire move. Most Heatran would also carry H.P.Ice and Explosion, the former of which would not KO and the latter of which would KO Heatran too, so they would still take him out technically even if they go down too. Moltres however doesn't have a reliable move to take down Heatran, so DDZard or BellyZard are the only ones I can think of, so I think Arcanist is right, you should ban him. In fact in type tournies like this one I've found that making them UU makes them more fun and successful.

And both have an incredible Stealth rock weak, and get K.o-ed with Fire blast after SR damage, so they arn't too reliable.
Greene is right though, explosion i suppose defeats the purpose, but losing something like moltres or charizard when there are only 4 pokemon makes it very very costly

I just went ahead and made this a uu/nu tourney so it should be interesting.
